I have an Onkyo system. It has worked perfectly for over a year. I turned it on recently and a very loud hum was coming from the subwoofer and surround sound speakers. I unplugged the subwoofer and the hum diminished was still there.
I have not changed any of the settings or wiring configuration or how the various power cables are plugged in.
Please help!

Because it doesn’t know the words. No, seriously. There may be a internal problem. Maybe not. First unplug every input. Keep the speakers plugged in. Turn on the receiver. If it still hums then there is a problem inside the receiver. Like it says on the back panel there are no user serviceable parts. Consult your warranty. If it is still covered call customer service. If not call a repair service. If it does not hum start plugging in all the components one at a time and stop when one causes a hum. Therein lies the problem. One tip with hums; be sure all the components are plugged into the same outlet. Otherwise you can generate the dreaded “ground loop.”
